AdDuplex just made a major change to it’s Cross Promotion Ad Network: The introduction of Interstial Ads. As part of this change AdDuplex had to switch from using a single AppId to a AppKey and Ad unit ID combination. The updated SDK is backwards compatible, but I wanted to quickly go over updating an existing app to use the new properties.
First let’s log into manage.adduplex.com to go to the list of existing apps and find our new AppKey and Ad unit ID values.
Here you can find all of your Apps that are on the AdDuplex network, find the one you want to update and look for it’s App key and Ad unit ID. The Ad unit ID should be the same as your old AppId value.
Now you need to upgrade your AdDuplex SDK. In Visual Studio 2013, go to Tools->Extensions and Updates and on the side bar click on Updates->Visual Studio Gallery. If you already have the AdDuplex SDK, you should see that there is an update available here. Launch the update and run the installer to get v184.108.40.206 of the SDK.
When you go to build your project after upgrading the SDK, you may find you need to explicitly update your reference. To do that just right click on your project’s references and select Add Reference, then make sure the new AdDuplex SDK for Windows Phone 8.1 XAML v220.127.116.11 is checked.
After updating your SDK all you need to do is update your AdDuplex controls in your XAML by adding the new AppKey value and changing your old AppId into the new AdUnitId property:
And that’s it! Once you’ve upgraded to the new AdDuplex SDK you can start looking into the new interstial ads. If you publish an app using an interstial ad then you may be eligible for a new contest that AdDuplex is running to give away an all expense paid trip to GDC Europe and gamescom!
